Coming to London from Italy, Agrodolce serves classic Roman comfort cuisine, including traditional pinsa pizzas. Plenty of pasta dishes and other carb-loaded goodness is available on the menu as well, of course, and the restaurant provides an unexpectedly striking backdrop.
Behind its nice yet unassuming façade, Agrodolce hides a beautiful, lavishly decorated interior with chandelier after chandelier stretching towards the back of the venue, casting light on gilded frames, pristine whitewashed walls, and soothing blue marble tabletops. The overall effect is of a venue with a much higher price tag than what you'll find once you start perusing the menu.
The latter covers the rich flavours and traditions of authentic Roman cuisine comprehensively, ranging from antipasti like bruschette and burrata to fried snacks, homemade pasta dishes, steaks, oven-baked fish, and the pinsa-style pizzas popular in the Italian capital. It wouldn't be a proper Italian meal if you didn't round things off with tiramisu or some other indulgent dessert, of course.
Speaking of tiramisu, fans of this timeless treat definitely need to pay a visit to Agrodolce on Sundays. That's when they serve a brunch menu consisting of a starter, a pasta dish or pinsa, two glasses of prosecco, and – deep breath – unlimited tiramisu, heaped onto your plate straight from the tray.
All in all, Agrodolce is a true Italian gem in Fitzrovia that needs to be on your list.
