Lobos Meat and Tapas Borough

Unabashedly carnivorous, Lobos Meat and Tapas champions animal instinct and a love of prime meat cuts and good wine. Featuring an open kitchen in a rustic venue under railway arches, the Borough branch next to London Bridge serves a selection of dishes based around Ibérico pork and other classic tapas.

'Lobos' means wolves in Spanish, and this Borough tapas bar lives up to its name with a menu that caters to a wolfish appetite for meat. Think roasted Ibérico pork, slow-cooked lamb shoulder and charred bone-in ribeye, bone marrow and beef fillet, all made for sharing. The selection of Spanish and British cuts changes with market availability, while the vegetable-led plates are made in step with the seasons. Plates like grilled artichokes with piquillo pepper dip and black olive tapenade, baked Tetilla cheese and sautéed mushrooms with truffle oil offer plenty to try beyond the meat. It all comes together in a rustic, low-lit space with a pleasantly moody but warm atmosphere.

Upstairs, a romantic nook tucked into the old arch offers cosy tables for two, while the bar and ground floor are livelier, with groups and walk-ins adding to the buzz. Service moves fast, and plates arrive quickly, making it easy to mix lighter tapas with a few meatier centrepieces for the table, and you can order more as you go.

The wine and drinks lists lean into Spanish provenance and the cocktails evolve with the seasons. We'd recommend a bottle of Rioja or their signature sangria as a natural match for the charred cuts, or Cava from the Catalan region for a celebratory toast.
