Shan Shui Social

Shan Shui Social brings the glamour and energy of 1920s Shanghai to London, fusing neon-lit interiors and playful design with a menu that celebrates the breadth of regional Chinese cuisine. Expect a generous welcome, thoughtful service and a buoyant atmosphere, whether you're visiting for cocktails, a light bite or a full Chinese feast.

In the kitchen, Shan Shui Social draws on the culinary traditions of China, from the fiery, numbing spices of Sichuan to the delicate, layered flavours of Guangdong. The menu combines venerable techniques with quality ingredients, balancing crowd-pleasers with dishes that highlight the diversity of Chinese cooking. Favourites include a warming Sichuan hot and sour soup, Shanghai smacked cucumbers dressed in punchy garlic and sesame oil, dim sum, Cantonese roast duck, and comforting sweet and sour pork.

The drinks list follows a similar approach, bringing traditional Chinese ingredients into the world of contemporary mixology. Lychee, calamansi and yuzu feature on the inventive cocktail list, which includes a sweet Baijiu lychee martini and a moreish Asian take on red sangria. There's a plentiful wine list too, offering bottles that range from English sparkling wine to Sicilian whites and classic French reds.

More than just nostalgic, Shan Shui Social neatly captures the essence of 1920s Shanghai glamour, and nods to the city's cosmopolitan heyday through a warm, contemporary lens. Whether you're stopping by for a few plates to share or settling in for a leisurely session, the team here are experts at bringing people together over generous portions, rich flavours and a unique culinary experience.
