The Clink Restaurant

Doing good and eating well – it's what The Clink Restaurant is all about

A rehabilitation programme aimed at people in prison and those at risk of offending in community, The Clink Restaurant offers a dining experience unlike any other. Not only are the meals cooked by prisoners in training, but the venue itself is part of HMP Brixton.

Operating within a working correctional facility naturally comes with quite a few specificities – obligatory advance bookings, security checks, physical IDs for all guests, no under-18s, no alcohol served, no phones inside, and so on – but rather than proving an inconvenience, it all serves to heighten the uniqueness of dining here.

While the setting is unique, what awaits is an outstanding dining experience where every meal helps transform lives through training and rehabilitation. The air-conditioned restaurant itself is located in the former governor's 19th-century house, a beautifully designed space that provides a hospitable haven amidst the starkness of prison. The furnishings are crafted by prisoners as well, and there's even a dedicated private dining room where you can celebrate a special occasion with a bespoke seasonal tasting menu.

The highly-rated cuisine served at The Clink Restaurant is prepared by students working towards nationally recognised City & Guilds qualifications, gaining valuable skills, experience, and confidence as they build a brighter future. It's a refined affair, with gourmet dishes like pan-fried lemon sole with pomme purée, brown shrimp, samphire, and lemon butter sauce on the seasonally changing menu. Proper roasts are served on Sundays as well, and though there's no alcohol on the premises, equal care is paid to the mocktail selection.

Taken altogether, this is one clink you won't mind going back to.
