The Walled Gardens in Manchester is the home base of award-winning chef Eddie Shepherd – quite literally, as it's located in the ground floor of his actual home. The unique restaurant offers an exclusive dining experience highlighting Shepherd's acclaimed plant-based cuisine.

Eddie Shepherd is a renowned chef whose career has taken him around the world, from pop-ups in Mexico and China to partnerships with high-profile clients such as Google, Vodafone, BBC, and Waitrose. Passionate about contemporary plant-based cuisine, Shepherd enthusiastically applies his skills and creativity to exploring all this rapidly-growing field has to offer.

The Walled Gardens is Shepherd's intimate dining experience, based in the specially-converted ground floor of his Manchester home. Seating just eight people at a time and open on select days only, this is a very in-demand affair, with seats selling out months in advance.

If you do manage to get a booking here, the chef will greet you at his home with a welcome cocktail before serving the multiple-course tasting menu that has established The Walled Gardens as one of the best vegetarian restaurants not just in the UK, but the world. The menu changes regularly, but you can always expect ambitious fine dining by an inventive, daring chef. All of the food at The Walled Gardens is vegetarian, but gluten-free or vegan diners can be taken care of with prior notice as well. The restaurant is BYOB and doesn't serve drinks beyond the welcome cocktail, though you can also preorder a wine pairing.
